Last night we tried something slightly different and headed to Rufus & Bee at Twinwaters in Lekki for ten-pin bowling.
It’s a huge indoor entertainment venue, with more than 200 arcade games as well as the bowling lanes, restaurant and sports bar. The arcade alone is enormous – racing games, basketball, shooting games, claw machines and just about every other flashing, noisy machine you can imagine.
We went for the bowling, though, and had a lot of fun. I should confess that bowling is not one of my hidden talents, but fortunately enthusiasm counts for something.
Perhaps the most Lagos part of the evening was getting there. Rufus & Bee is actually very close to us, but current road construction, combined with limited opportunities to turn around on the new Calabar Coastal Highway, turned what should have been a very short journey into something of an expedition.
That is one of the peculiarities of getting around Lagos: somewhere can be a kilometre or two away and still prove surprisingly difficult to reach.
Once we finally arrived, though, it was worth it — good lanes, a lively atmosphere and something completely different to do for an evening.
