About Us

Who are we

Everything you want to know

Hosted Lagos was created by people who live in Lagos, love the city and want to share a side of it that most visitors would never discover on their own.
We’re not a traditional tour operator. We’re a small team of local hosts and guides who know where to go, who to meet and how to navigate one of Africa’s most exciting — and sometimes overwhelming — cities.

Our guests stay with us, eat with us and experience Lagos with people who call it home. From beaches and restaurants to nightlife, culture and private gatherings, we open doors that simply aren’t available on a conventional holiday.

Most importantly, we keep things personal. We normally host just one guest at a time, welcome couples, and occasionally host one additional guest. That means we can tailor each week around you and make sure you always have someone local looking out for you.

Hosted Lagos is operated by a UK-registered company (Company No. 15694708), giving you the reassurance of booking and paying through a UK business while enjoying an experience delivered by people who live in Lagos and know the city.

Come as a guest. Experience Lagos as a local.

Our trip

We’ve put this trip together because we believe it offers the very best combination of experiences Lagos has to offer — the energy and excitement of the city, great food and nightlife, unique activities and encounters, and the extraordinary contrast of escaping to some of the most beautiful beaches you can imagine.

If we’re honest, Lagos doesn’t have the history of London or the gastronomic delights of Paris. What it does have in abundance is joy.

Nigerians are some of the warmest, happiest and most welcoming people you are ever likely to meet, and more than anything else, this trip is designed to introduce you to them. We want you to experience Lagos through the people who live here — eating, drinking, laughing, exploring and spending time together rather than simply ticking sights off a list.

We’ve deliberately kept the experience to one week. For many people, their first encounter with Lagos can be exhilarating, exciting and, at times, a little overwhelming. Seven nights gives you enough time to get beneath the surface of the city, while still leaving you wanting more. And, of course, if you want to stay longer, we’re very happy to help extend your trip.

Above all, we’ve designed the week to give you the very best Lagos experience. You’ll arrive as our guest, experience the city with people who call it home, and leave having made new friends — and, we hope, with a desire to come back.

We have a feeling Lagos won’t be finished with you after just one visit.

Our guides

They make every moment special

Our guides live in Lagos and know the city inside out. They’re all friendly, and above all they’re joyous, kind and welcoming people who genuinely love sharing their city with our guests.
They’re not traditional tour guides following a script. They’re your local connection to Lagos — there to show you around, introduce you to people and places you’d be unlikely to discover on your own, answer the questions you might not feel comfortable asking elsewhere, and make sure you feel at home.

We think the people you experience a city with matter just as much as the places you visit. That’s why we choose our guides as much for their warmth, personality and local knowledge as for anything else.

marcus watson

Marcus Watson is not only widely travelled and has been living in Nigeria for the past two years, but also brings a long history in both communications and responsible tourism.
In the 1990s, Marcus was Communications Director at Stonewall, before launching Gay.com in the UK in 2000. He later became Executive Director of Tourism Concern, the campaigning organisation that championed ethical, responsible and fair-trade tourism, where he worked for seven years.
He has travelled extensively around the world, but it is Lagos that he now calls home. Hosted Lagos brings those different strands of his life together: a love of travel, decades of connection with the LGBT+ community, a belief that tourism should benefit local people, and a genuine affection for Nigeria and the people who have made him feel so welcome here.
